As soon as the wedding date is fixed, the first thing in a bride-to-be's mind is to fix the number of parlor sittings for the next few months till the wedding day. No doubt the shopping and other important elements constitute an important part but looking good tops the priority list. And why shouldn't it be? While different beauty treatments abound in the market, a wholesome treatment that does wonder for any girl is the body polishing treatment.

Body polishing is a top-to-toe body care procedure that helps to remove dead skin cells through exfoliation, the skin and making it smoother, softer and brighter. Since it benefits the entire body, body polishing has become an integral part of bridal care packages. But instead of going to a spa/parlor every single time, an effective body polishing package can be easily created at home. A scrub, massage oil, small and large towels, and a large cloth are the basic requirements.

Ingredients
Scrub for exfoliation: You may use sesame seeds, dried mint leaves and honey. Crush the sesame seeds coarsely and powder the dried mint leaves. Mix them with a little honey and apply on the skin. Sesame seeds soothe sun-damaged skin, removing tan and producing an even color tone. Mint adds a glow to the skin, while honey moisturizes and softens the skin.

Massage oil: A combination of essential oils works wonders. Add 5 drops each of cinnamon oil, lavender oil and rose oil to 100 ml pure olive oil. Always remember to dilute essential oils with pressed oils as essential oils should never be used directly on the skin. Cinnamon oil relieves fatigue and muscular tension while lavender oil induces relaxation. Rose oil has a calming effect on the mind and tones the skin. Olive oil nourishes and softens the skin, also restoring the normal acid-alkaline balance.

The Treatment
Start by exfoliating. Mix the scrub ingredients and apply them on the face and body. After about 15-20 minutes, rub gently on the skin in circular movements. Pay special attention to the knees, elbows and heels. Finally, wash it off with water.

This should be followed with the oil massage with the fragrant oil. Small circular strokes can be used on the joints of the arms, like shoulder, elbow and wrist. Follow long up and down stroking movements on the arms and legs. We advise you to work along the natural muscle contours. The abdomen should be massaged with wide circular movements, starting out from the navel and going outwards. For the upper abdomen, the direction should be from right to left, while for the lower abdomen, the circular strokes should be from left to right. The back should be massaged from the base of the spine, working upward and outward from the backbone to the ribs (it is best if someone else massages it for you). For self massage, you can easily learn a few easy strokes to ease tension in the neck area, or parts of the body that you can easily reach.

To eliminate the toxins from your body, it is suggested to “brush” your skin. The entire body surface can be brushed using a rough cloth. Begin from the feet and go upwards. Then brush from lower yo upper arms. Go across the shoulders and back, while gently brush the chest and abdomen areas.

Till a month to your wedding, you can regularly follow the above-mentioned procedure for a glowing body. In the last 30 days before the wedding, go the professional way. Be assured, your groom won't be able to take his eyes off you!
