Getting married in the summer months may get a little cumbersome for the brides. Shahnaz Husain, the empress of the beauty industry shares with Bigindianwedding how a bride can bring out the best in her in three refreshing styles. Read on to know more.

Summer brides need treatments that make them look and feel cool, fresh and vibrant. In summer, sweat and oil secretions are deposited on the skin making it look dull and greasy. Cleansing the skin before make-up is most important. Wash off with plenty of cool water. After cleansing, use chilled rose water to tone and cool the skin. This is not only refreshing, but also helps to close the pores. Dip cotton wool pads in it and wipe the skin. Also, pat briskly on the skin to stimulate circulation and add a glow. If the skin is dry, apply liquid moisturizer. Otherwise, apply astringent lotion before foundation.

A water-based foundation is better for summer. Look for light, oil-free foundation, with a sheer, matte finish. Dot foundation on the face and blend with a damp sponge or with finger tips. Don’t forget the neck. Apply loose powder, or try compact powder to set the foundation.  Use foundation with beige tones, rather than pink which suits Indian skin colour better.

Waterproof make-up cosmetics are available. For example, waterproof mascaras and eye liners will prevent eye make up from running during the hot and humid season. Waterproof or water resistant lip colours and lip liners are also available. Or, go for matte lipstick and add just a dab of gloss in the centre for a delicious pout.

Here are some different bridal looks for summer:

The cool look
The look can be achieved with pearly and frosty colours.  Select a foundation which is paler than normal skin tone and use a powder with a pearly sheen. Eye shadow should not be too bright. Pearly highlighter can be used just under the browns and also on cheekbones. Lilac, pink or coral may be used for the lips and keep to the same tones for blusher. Pearly shimmer should be on the lips.

The contrast look
Use dramatic smoky eyes make up for the eyes, but pale frosty or pearly colour for the lips. Dark grey shadow can be used for the eyes. Line both top and bottom eyelids, close to the lashes for emphasis. Lots of mascara. Blusher should also be light, just a glow.

The natural look
Choose foundation and blusher carefully. They should help to enhance the natural skin tone, giving it a healthy glow. Use a hint of blusher – peach or a soft pink should do. Use pink eye shadow on the lid and brown in the crease. Use dark brown eyeliner and top it with dark brown shadow. Curl the lashes and apply less mascara. Pink or reddish tones in lip colour, with soft pink blusher.
