Inspired by the Sri Hastakala Kalamkari of Andhra Pradesh in combination with silhouettes and colours from the renaissance period, Neeta Lulla presented her new bridal collection at the Lakme India Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2011 Season. The clothes line ranged from vintage ethnicity to contemporary chic.
Precious kundan and metal work on rich brocades of Benaras, with gorgeous nets and chiffons, sensuous lace and georgettes formed the basis of the collection in stunning jewel tones of deep red, Persian green, rust and gold merged flawlessly with the embellishments and prints of Hastakala Kalamkari. The very talented designer also made generous use of lavish velvet cutwork from the Renaissance period.
Actress Prachi Desai opened the show looking stunning in an orange panelled kalidar floor length kurta with a printed bodice, followed by models displaying some of the most elaborate and gorgeous Bridal wear for the season.
The collection’s asymmetric kurtas, mermaid tail lehengas, lacey long sleeves and velvet bodices, anarkalis with embroidered jackets earned a huge applause.
